Come to enjoy and be educated by one of England's and the world's preeminent flutists and flute pedagogues at an intensive seven-day course of study in the heart of Boston, America's most historical and artistic of cities. Classes will take place at Boston University's College of Fine Arts.
The central point of this course is how to increase your chances of employment. We will look at how to practice tone, technique, articulation, expression, concert repertoire and orchestral repertoire and, with practice schedules, make the best use of time.
Activities will include group warm-up sessions with improvisation, transposition and novel practice ideas to help you re-energize your daily routine. A daily etudes class will address the building blocks of music and afternoon repertoire classes will emphasize the collaborative nature of the flute and piano repertoire. Throughout the week there will be the opportunity to take private lessons with Boston University Professor Linda Toote. In addition, the class will include morning yoga sessions led by Melissa Lindon and a session on Body Mapping, a discipline which promotes injury prevention and enhanced performance through increased awareness of body mechanics, led by Vanessa Breault Mulvey. The Masterclass will culminate in a recital in which all class performers will participate.
